Current information picture
CENTCOM said on 5 September 2026 that it had disabled the M/T Downy off Kharg, the M/T Stark 1 off Jask and destroyed the empty M/T Kylo in the Gulf of Oman in response to ballistic fire at an aircraft carrier and a destroyer. Fourteen reports retell the same statement while diverging on what the vessels were — IRGC assets or commercial tankers — and on what became of them.
Independent corroboration is not established by counting publications.
